Why do I try so hard to clean up my life and be okay with God?

Because I want to go Home.

Don't many of us suffer a bit or a lot in this world?

"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart—these, O God, You will not despise"

                                                                                        (Psalms 51:17).

God helps to heal our souls and our spirits if we give Him a chance. He helped me.

The Firmament, Third Heaven,
 and Structure of Things Biblical

"And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day."
(Genesis 1:6-8 KJV)

….

In summary, here is the structure of the physical world as it now exists from the face of the Earth upwards:

  • The lower sea of physical waters (our seas and oceans)
  • The first heaven (the atmosphere)
  • The second heaven (outer space)
  • The sea above outer space and below the third heaven (a sea of separation)
  • And above it all, there is the Third Heaven.

Do not compare yourself to anyone else or feel the need to do what anyone else is doing. This is a unique and special journey of yourself and for yourself.

 ************

Can you sit and be with yourself for 15 minutes?        Can you sit and be with your own spirit for a bit.

All by yourself. No television. No computer. No music. No talking on the phone. No anything but just with yourself and your own thoughts?

If not, then you have some work to do as this indicates an inability to be comfortable with your thoughts and with your life as it is. If you are uncomfortable then you will run from your life.

Try 5 minutes to start. Or try 1 minute to start and increase by 1 minute each week up to at least 20 minutes. This is a place to start.

*****************

God is the Source of what makes us grow spiritually, so we must strive to keep the relationship with Him vibrantly alive through constant communication and striving to obey. We must fill our minds with His character and His wonderful purpose, counterbalancing these with knowing what this world is really like and what horrific situations those who have no knowledge of Him or His purpose experience. These things will help to put an "edge" on our hunger, helping to keep it alive and sharp.

We must ask God to fill our minds with insight into the glorious way He lives life—free of fear and pain, unworried about murder or harm, always creating and involved in wonderful projects that bring good to others, warmly satisfied in accomplishing good. Do we not desire to live life forever like this too?

Like hungering and thirsting, there is first an initial and then a continuous filling. He fills us with what He is and what we need to negotiate our pilgrimage to His Kingdom safely and securely. He fills us with understanding that we might have His perspective on the affairs of this life and a clear vision of our future life in His Kingdom. He fills us with wisdom that we might apply the understanding He makes available to us. He fills us with a peace that passes all understanding in the midst of an insane world. He fills us with thanksgiving and knowledge of Him that we might praise Him. He fills us with faith, hope and love that we might be like Him (I John 3:2 ).

God allows Himself and all that He is to be found by those who seek Him in the manner He prescribes. He bestows His favor on them as did the Prodigal Son's father. He forgives their sins and writes His laws on their hearts as He teaches them His ways. He strengthens them to forsake their idols. He assures them that they are "accepted in the Beloved" (Ephesians 1:6 ). He provides for them physically and heals them psychologically. He gives them understanding and wisdom, as well as a foretaste of the rest and peace to come. Eventually, He ushers them completely and totally into His Kingdom.

Unconditional love and service to others are keys.

Serving God before yourself is another key.

Selfishness serves a purpose in that it helps us to figure out how to be strong in ourselves. There is much truth in saying that a person with a very strong and loving heart can love and serve others better than one who is weak or full of pride or other vices. It takes a very strong person to be able to serve others and surrender to others and to God. So one of the most difficult parts of all of this is that when you become stronger in your heart, then one has to learn how to let go of the selfishness which helps us get to strength of the heart because if this selfishness is allowed to continue then it can serve dark purposes and the small self instead of God and others.

Do you understand what I am trying to say here or do you need more information?

In other words, help the weak to be strong in the heart and let God take care of the rest.

Courage is courage but desperation and weakness can also be turned into courage and strength of the heart as well as something bigger than the self.

Lucifer is knocking on the door of your heart with a song in Breaking Dawn and most of you don’t even know it or realize it. Most of you cannot even hear it so far have many of us fallen from God. Nor would we expect it.

Lucifer was once the Angel of Music you know and he is every bit as seductive, if not more so, as the vampires in the Twilight series.

How did I do this and how can I hear it? I love music. I have studied energy, learned to feel my feelings, learned to feel life, learned to listen, learned to connect with God in my heart, learned to feel my own heart, learned what my feelings and other energies sound like and feel like, learned to express those sounds and feel them in my body and other things. It took me somewhat by surprise when I heard the song but combined with the symbolism in the video, told me all that I needed to know.

Just listen with your heart - to everything around you and what is inside of you.

Marcia Montenegro writes,

Much has been made of the alleged message of Twilight, that it is one of abstinence and shows control over desire. In truth, Edward is controlling himself because he does not want to kill Bella; her life is truly in danger from a ferocious vampire attack from the one who loves her.  Aside from that, a vibrant sensuality of attraction lies just beneath the surface. A TIME reporter who interviewed Meyer wrote, “It's never quite clear whether Edward wants to sleep with Bella or rip her throat out or both, but he wants something, and he wants it bad, and you feel it all the more because he never gets it. That's the power of the Twilight books: they're squeaky, geeky clean on the surface, but right below it, they are absolutely, deliciously filthy.”{17}

Maybe our view of God changes as we evolve. When once a view of a stern or judgmental God was enough now we are tired of that and we want a bigger relationship. When once a distant god was enough now we want to talk to him personally. When once faith was enough, now we want God to be more than words and we want our Creator to be real to us. When once sacrifice and harsh punishment was enough to stop us from "sinning" now we have developed compassion or other ways of doing things. Where once idol worship explained what happened in the world or in the heavens and we looked to some sort of gods, perhaps now we can have a personal relationship with our Creator. Where once the material world supplied our needs for the most part perhaps now we can look to our spiritual side for fulfillment as well. Perhaps religions are part of the growing and learning. They don't have to be "bad" and they serve a very valuable purpose. Perhaps we just learn and grow as we evolve. How about we are all in different "grades" in this school of life. We have so much higher we can go in developing a personal relationship with God inside of us instead of seeing the Creator as somewhere outside of us. ... and more ... think about this for a minute or two or three.

We are learning and growing all of the time. Why not expand on what we have learned and know and evolve into a personal relationship with God as a loving, caring Father who is involved with us if we want Him to be in our lives.

http://www.ariseandshine.org/Testimony-&-Translations.html

Powerful testimony of God‘s healing from David Berkowitz, the Son of Sam.

Ever since I was a small child, my life seemed to be filled with torment. I would often have seizures in which I would roll on the floor. Sometimes furniture would get knocked over. When these attacks came, it felt as if something was entering me.

….

In 1975, however, I met some guys at a party who were, I later found out, heavily involved in the occult. I had always been fascinated with witchcraft, satanism, and occult things since I was a child. When I was growing up I watched countless horror and satanic movies, one of which was Rosemary’s Baby. That movie in particular totally captivated my mind.

….

Although I knew he meant well I mocked him because I did not think that God would ever forgive me or that He would want anything to do with me.

….

He kept reminding me that no matter what a person did, Christ stood ready to forgive if that individual would be willing to turn from the bad things they were doing and would put their full faith and trust in Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross by dying for our sins.

….

More than eleven years have gone by since I had that first talk with the Lord. So many good things have happened in my life since. Jesus Christ has allowed me to start an outreach ministry right here in the prison where I have been given permission by prison officials to work in the Special Needs Unit where men who have various emotional and coping problems are housed. I can pray with them as we read our Bibles together. I get the chance to show them a lot of brotherly love and compassion.

….

You see, I am not sharing this message to simply tell you an interesting story. Rather I want you to taste the goodness of God in my life, a man who was once a devil worshipper and a murderer, to show you that Jesus Christ is about forgiveness, hope and change.

….

I only wish I knew Jesus before all these crimes happened - they would not have happened.

….people can change, be forgiven and go on to help others … even some of the “worst” can be healed.

Question: "What is true worship?"

Answer:

The apostle Paul described true worship perfectly in Romans 12:1-2: “I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable, or well pleasing and perfect.”

ANYONE can do what I am doing if you have a connection with your own body, your own mind, your own heart, your own spirit and a connection with the Creator. You have to do the work yourself though and you won’t learn a lot of this from any book or television. You will learn it from going within and getting to know yourself and God.

If you connect with God and ask Him to come into your heart, then you will get all the help that you need. Maybe not all that you want, but you will get what you need. This is where I found my best help and the most love. Right inside of my own heart.

What kept me away from God in the first place?            I didn’t think that I was good enough to be loved by Him.

I was mistaken for He shows me that I am loved no matter what I have done or think that I have done. I am forgiven. I am loved. I still don’t understand completely this kind of love but it is there for any one of us at any time.

With God was the one place where I found that I was supported and loved for the unique soul that I am and God was the only one, besides Christ, who knew exactly how to reach my soul and spirit with His love. I didn’t find this anywhere else and I only found it by going to my own spirit and to God directly. I didn’t think that I could ever be fixed because I was so broken but they have managed to heal some things that I thought could never be healed. Wow! That is pretty amazing for me and something very special. I respect them for who they are and what they show me in a personal way. Like any relationship it is easy at times, hard at others and so many other things. It does require a commitment, time and effort like any other relationship but it is one which I am very glad that I took the time to try to develop. I wouldn’t have it any other way now. The things that I have seen and experienced have answered so many questions for me and healed so many of my wounds and given me a sense of belonging, of protection, of peace, of safety and most importantly, of grace, of love and forgiveness, as well as many other things. I cannot ask for more because these very things are so important to me.

I did think that I had to do it all by myself in the beginning. Now, I am slowly learning that I do not have to try to do it all by myself. God shows me that all I need to do is to let Him love me and guide me. That’s it. That simple but easier said than done after a lifetime of trying to do it by myself and being afraid. Still, He has given me glimpses of His love and it is enough to help me keep trying to let His love and the love of His son into my life.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

The Bible makes it clear that God has willed that this warfare is an absolute necessity for the development and preparation of His children to live in His Family Kingdom. It cannot be avoided; we cannot remain neutral. In one sense, we really have no choice. We must either fight or be lost.

As I see it, the “eye of the needle” as Christ talks about, is probably different for everyone. I can see where riches would get in the way but not all of us are rich or attached to our money before God. What is your greatest fear or your greatest desire or your greatest temptation in this world? So, going through the eye of the needle is probably connected to those in some way.

For me, it is getting past fear and letting God (or anyone for that matter) love me. The reward is like sliding into home plate after hitting a grand slam and well worth the effort.

What is your “eye of the needle” challenge in this life?  Is it money, or lust, or sex or power or a nice home or a nice car or _____?  Is it fear of love, or is it anger or rage or ______? Is it a desire for love, security, fame, fortune or anything else?

What kind of attachments for the things of this world are you holding on to?

I felt the love of Christ the other day in a very powerful way. I honestly have never felt that kind of love anywhere else in this world. It was ... very soothing, very powerful, very interesting and very scary all at the same time.

I have not read this book but it sounds interesting: I went within but each person is different and all ways through are important.

Following Jesus Through the Eye of the Needle: Living Fully, Loving Dangerously  by Kent Annan  at: http://www.amazon.com/Following-Jesus-Through-Eye-Needle/dp/0830837302
In this book you'll enter into Annan's experience traveling and working in Haiti, and ultimately you'll be challenged to follow God into uncharted territory on a path that may lead to your local soup kitchen--or to a Haitian relief settlement. Either way, you'll learn what it means to become vulnerable in order to help others and share the embodied love of Christ. Read Following Jesus Through the Eye of the Needle for a vivid picture of the Haiti Annan knows, the good work happening there through organizations like Haiti Partners, and the ways you can get involved. Whether you go or stay, you'll get a fresh sense of what it means to love God and love our neighbor when love is uncomfortable, even dangerous; to see what happens when God stretches you beyond your borders into his kingdom.

Members of the church of God generally do not have a problem with that major assumption/presumption, but many seem to have a problem with another. Once they become converted, they believe, they are assured of "going to a place of safety." This especially seems true if they belong to certain organizations that "push" that belief to increase their membership.

God's Word gives no such specific promise. Did God take Jesus to a place of safety when danger from Satan and the world threatened His life? Did He do the same for the apostles? Did He deliver all the prophets that were killed in Jerusalem? Our responsibility is to submit to the will of God come what may, glorifying Him in our response. How do we know precisely, in advance, exactly how God is going to use us? Is this something we can assume?

A clear and hopeful sign is that God shows a pattern in protecting Noah and his family and bringing Lot out of Sodom. Therefore, we can have hope that safety exists. He also promises not to test us above what we are able (I Corinthians 10:13 ). Nevertheless, a direct promise to every Christian to "escape" is simply not there. It cannot be assumed. Instead, we find generalities, such as is stated in Zephaniah 2:3 , "Seek the Lord, all you meek of the earth, who have upheld His justice. Seek righteousness, seek humility: It may be that you will be hidden in the day of the Lord's anger" (emphasis added).

As an example only, I feel that If parents or others do nothing to help me or anyone else learn boundaries, moral values, honesty, set curfews, how to eat better, how to budget, how to handle problems or conflict or other things, then I don’t feel that they care at all about me or us. I do not feel that neglect in any way shows children that they are loved. It is by them teaching me these things and being firm and loving, instead of giving me all that I want, that I feel that my parents love me because they care enough to take the time to show me and teach me about life. This is what God does for me in a very personal way. He shows me what He wants me to know. He teaches me what He wants me to know, He gives me rules and guidelines and He lets me know that He is rock solid and firm as well as that He also loves me tenderly and very much. He holds my very heart in His hands always. As a result I feel safe, I feel loved and I feel an ability to share love again with Him and with others. This is what tipped the scales for me back to God in a much bigger way. He takes the time to teach me and to let me know that He loves me.

Try for yourself the holy days as given in the Bible. Try for yourself keeping the Sabbath. Try for yourself Passover or the Jewish New Year or Hanukkah. Try them all for yourself in addition to your own holy days and see for yourself how you feel about them. That is what I did. Just experiment for yourself and give them a try in addition to your own holy days that you observe.

I FOUND OUT THAT GOD LOVES ME EVEN WHEN I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT DESERVE IT. When you realize that you have done or feel like you have done some horrible things in your life or in past lives and that He still loves you and has never given up on you, that is truly heart healing. This world would kill me with its justice and take my life but God NEVER stops loving me. That alone, changes my heart and helps me to heal my feelings of unworthiness. Even if I was not the best person or did some awful things, He gives me a chance for redemption and saving and healing. He shows mercy, grace, forgiveness and great unconditional love. I just wish I could understand that level of love more. I get the concept but I don’t really understand it. I know it is a very BIG kind of love though. Wow.

In my mind and heart, I feel that Christ brought to us some very important teachings but I do not feel that he just threw away the first 33 years of his life either. I find that I truly appreciate having a day to give to God, to rest and to learn and study. I find that Passover means a great deal to me and is a reminder to me that God has brought me out of the wilderness in my own life. Yes, I appreciate the fact that Christ died for us but I appreciate more the sacrifices that were made as well as the example that he set for us. I choose to follow God and Christ because that is what my heart tells me is best for me and this comes after study, after learning how to have a personal relationship with God and Christ [still learning every day], checking out other religions and belief systems, exploring, experimenting and other things. This is what my heart tells me is best.

Experiment and try observing the Sabbath [yes, the whole day] or some of the other holy days and see how your heart feels even if only to see a different point of view and not to celebrate those days from now on.

This is a wonderful gift! He [God] is not overly concerned about our individual sins as long as He sees in us a steady, upward trajectory toward maturity in our conduct to reach the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. If a child falls as he toddles across the floor, will not his parents set him upright, dust him off, comfort him, and show him, "This is the way you do it"? Can we expect any less from God, in whose image we are? Therefore, our acceptance before Him gives us time to grow.

a very harsh world, the tenderness of God’s unending love gives me hope for

*********

God created us for union with Himself: This is the original purpose of our lives. And God is defined as love (1 John 4:16). Living in awareness of our belovedness is the axis around which the Christian (or anyone's) life revolves. Being the beloved is our identity, the core of our existence. It is not merely a lofty thought, an inspiring idea, or one name among many. It is the name by which God knows us and the way He relates to us.

….

Theologian Edward Schillebeecksx responded: In a revealed religion, silence with God has a value in itself and for its own sake, just because God is God. Failure to recognize the value of mere being with God, as the beloved, without doing anything, is to gouge the heart out of Christianity [any religion or our own selves as a child of God].”

God shows a connection between nature and human morality; "natural" disasters are acts of God in response to the moral condition of the people. If men will treat other men, created in the image of God, in an immoral way, how will they treat the land, forests, rivers, lakes and oceans? Because these things seemingly cannot fight back, man will abuse them with no fear of reprisal. But God says that the environment will fight back and vomit them out!

Break those chains around you - whatever they represent...

                                                                                                               and be free.

What kind of fuel is in your heart? The best fuels are God and love but we can also carry around anger, grief, sadness, fear and other things in our heart. Try to let love clear out all of the stuff that is not of love and you will find your heart shining brightly.

This world feels like a huge schoolyard playground to me at times. Some kids are playing happily. Some kids are being bullied. Some kids are fighting each other all the time or some of the time. Some kids share their lunches. Some kids help others. Some kids want to be in charge. Some kids want just to be left alone. Some kids are sad and afraid. Some kids are lonely. Some kids are kissing in the corner. Some kid just fell down and scraped his knee. Some kids are eating lunch.  Some kids are full of love. ... just like school.

I wish you could all understand just how very important you are to your Father in Heaven.

He loves every one of you so very much and He wants all of you to come Home.

Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. (Ezekiel 36:25-27)

The pure in heart are those who with all their being seek to remain free of every form of the defilement of sin. The fruit of this is the blessing of spiritual discernment. With spiritual understanding, they have clear views of God's character, will, and attributes. A pure heart is synonymous with what Jesus calls a "single" (KJV) or "clear" (NKJV margin) eye in Matthew 6:22. When a person has this mind, the whole body is full of light. Where there is light, one can see clearly.

Sometimes suffering or chastening helps bring us to a bigger understanding of ourselves, of others and of situations in our lives.

"Blows that hurt cleanse away evil, as do stripes the inner depths of the heart."
