Nutrition helps a lot

Healthy eating habits and a balanced diet make a HUGE difference in the way that I feel. What I eat has a very big impact on my state of mind and the clearness of my thinking, as well as the energy levels in my body.

Here is a basic smoothie recipe based upon the work and research of David Wolfe, author of The Sunfood Diet Success System, as well as a leading nutrition and raw food expert.

Thank you David for all of your hard work and research.

Let your smoothie contain a fruit, a fat and a green. Example is 1 banana, a couple of tablespoons of peanut butter, a couple of healthy handfuls of spinach and almond milk to cover and blend.

You can use any fruit – apple, blueberries, raspberries, etc. Any fat such as flax oil, 3-6-9 oil, almonds, walnuts, hemp seed, avocado (makes it creamy) flax seed, etc. Any green such as spinach, beet greens, kale, lettuce, …. You get the idea.

I also add to mine a tablespoon or so of sea vegetables or seaweed for organic minerals, MSM to help me rebuild my lungs, a scoop of protein powder sometimes to fill me up a little more, raw cacao, coconut oil and anything else that I might be in the mood for at the time. I can’t even taste the spinach and I like it. It helps me get a good dose of vegetables for my day. Green is the power healer and calmer of the body.

Stick to the basic fruit, fat and green and you will have a pretty balanced meal that is quick and easy to prepare and get out the door or have on the run. I find that this drink fills me up for quite a while and satisfies some major nutrition requirements for my day. Adjust as you see fit or necessary for your own life or routine. Substitute this for one or two meals a day. I use a Nutribullet [one of the best things I have ever bought for myself] and I get about two sixteen ounce glasses out of one smoothie that I make. A blender works well to mix it all up if that is what you have. It takes less than five minutes to prepare, drink, rinse the container and go.

Check out Ann Wigmore's energy soup on the internet. See below for a close recipe:

I don't know if this is the exact recipe from Ann Wigmore but I really like this one found at

Blend in your blender or food processor, using water or unpasteurized apple juice as the base:

  • 5 cups of home-grown baby greens – with the GoGreen Sprouter, you get a new tray of greens every day on rotation;
  • 1-2 cups of bean sprouts – alternate daily between mung, lentil and green pea (beans grow well in Sprouter, or in jars or hemp bags);
  • half to one avocado – for its clean mono-unsaturated fat (like olive oil) with no cholesterol, and rich in enzymes – avocado "savorizes" the greens;
  • one apple – for sweetness, and to help digest all the proteins;
  • 2 tablespoons of seaweed – for its 60+ minerals and trace minerals, like iodine for thyroid – alternate daily between dulse, kelp and black nori (the raw seaweeds).

Ann Wigmore advised it's best to blend with home-made Rejuvelac, instead of water – see Rejuvelac Recipe here. The high vitamin E in rejuvelac stops nutrients from oxidizing. It's rich too in vitamins B and C, friendly bacteria for your colon, and enzymes for digestion.

Chocolate Super Food Smoothie Recipe with David Wolfe - PART ONE

So I know that changing your dietary habits is one of the hardest things to do, especially if you grew up with a real meat and potatoes and sugar diet. It was very difficult for me but I found that there are some real benefits to be had from doing so in my life and I made the changes slowly over the years instead of all at once.

There is much truth to the "eat your vegetables" statement as these contain a lot of minerals and vitamins that the body needs. Try the greens in a smoothie if you don't like the taste of vegetables or try fresh vegetable juices.

and this one as well:

The Beautiful Truth

Raised on a wildlife reserve in Alaska, 15-year-old Garrett was interested in the dietary habits of the farm animals. After the tragic death of his mother, Garrett's father decided to home-school his son and assigned a book written by Dr. Max Gerson that proposed a direct link between diet and a cure for cancer.

Fascinated, Garrett embarks in this documentary on a cross-country road trip to investigate The Gerson Therapy. He meets with scientists, doctors and cancer survivors who reveal how it is in the best interest of the multi-billion dollar medical industry to dismiss the notion of alternative and natural cures.

I found that an alkaline diet (mostly fruits and vegetables, especially green, leafy vegetables) promotes calmness, clear thinking and stability. Eating acidic (sugar, dairy, meat, coffee, processed foods) and comfort foods for the most part contributes to anxiety and a chaotic state of mind. While sugar and other acidic foods may blunt what you don't want to feel they also produce anxiety, unbalance the mind and stress the body. Alkaline foods and especially green leafy vegetables, calm and heal the body and the mind. Eat an 80% alkaline and 20% acid diet plus sea vegetables or fresh vegetable juices for minerals to balance and rebuild the body. Add some essential oils, such as omega 3, 6, 9's to your diet. Think about what acid does to a battery and how baking soda gets rid of the acid. That is the most basic explanation that I can give to you at this time.    Longevity site by David Wolfe. Take a look at the video and especially around 4:56 minutes to watch a white blood cell.

I have found that a healthy pH balance in my body helps me fight illness and decrease any flu or cold I might happen to get, helps my mind to be much more clear and calms me down, among other things. What have you got to lose?

Three months is the minimum time to rebuild the immune system but you should notice yourself feeling differently very soon, depending of course, upon the status of your health.

Here is an article on how to make the transition to a healthier diet and some of the reasons why it is beneficial. Don't feel like you have to make this transition overnight. Pay attention to how you feel and what your body and your spirit are telling you. Just last year, after nine years of cleansing, detoxifying and juicing, I was able to go for almost three weeks eating all raw foods, which is something I have not been able to do yet. I have done many juice fasts of ten days or so but never all raw foods. This feels right for my body now but I pay attention. I do not eat all raw at this time. A lot of the time was spent getting out the old energies, fear and trauma that I was holding on to and learning new skills to be stronger emotionally. Pace yourself and do not feel that you have to do anything on a schedule. Do not feel that you have to go all raw. Find what works for you and for your body.

As I understand it, hot chili peppers are good for the circulation and the immune system. I have found that adding cayenne to my diet, my smoothies and in other ways, helps my body in many ways. Here is more info:

Just by cutting meat out of my diet for three months and dairy out for one month, I was able to get rid of much of the inflammation in parts of my body. I was taking high dose anti-inflammatory medication, especially for one week out of the month due to severe fibroids. At the peak of my pain and inflammation I was taking them for two to three weeks out of the month. Now I do not have to take them at all. None this month at all. I even feel like the swelling has gone down and at least 95% of the pain is gone. This varies from month to month but generally, I don't have to take the anti-inflammatory medication any more than 2-3 days out of the month. This is far better than the two to three weeks out of the month that I was taking them. If I add dairy or meat back into my diet then my symptoms get worse and I have to take more medicine.  I find that I much prefer to change my diet than to feel the pain, inflammation and swelling or to face a surgery that could otherwise be avoided with nutrition and diet. Saves me money.  Last month only two tablets and this month only one.

In the same area please note this info:

"Researchers have identified cholesterol’s partner in crime as inflammation—the flood of white blood cells and chemicals that our immune system unleashes to ward off damage or infection. Cholesterol wouldn’t be nearly as dangerous without this process, which is thought to play an essential role in atherosclerosis, the hardening that occurs when low-density lipoprotein (LDL), also known as bad cholesterol, builds up in the arteries.",,20232652,00.html

I'm not sure about the truth of the following information but it is worth checking into a little further perhaps considering that different foods and meats have different vibrations and properties.

Part of his [Royal Rife] research with the microscope revealed to him a specific state that the blood MUST be in for cancer to develop. In his notes he made notation of a curiosity to him. He had discovered that pork caused the specific state for cancer to develop and grow very rapidly. Whenever a test subject consumed pork, their blood entered into that specific state of the blood that he had discovered was necessary for cancer to develop. The blood would maintain this state for up to nine hours after ingestion of pork.

Rife was not a religious man. He had no saving faith. He didn’t understand that pork was unclean and not to be consumed according to the commandment of Scripture. He did learn from his own studies NOT to consume pork due to scientific reasons!

From a poster’s comment at

List of commercial and other products.                             List of clean and unclean meats.

argument for or against unclean and clean meats

The Torah is full of rules - how to worship God, how to treat each other according to Him, what we can
and can't eat (have you ever noticed that all the animals that God considers "unclean" are the carnivores
who eat anything including disease-laden garbage and roadkill?)....Yet the church decided all "old" stuff
that was just for "the Jews"....

I wanted to add the above articles for your consideration. Once a person gets used to the different energies of the body and of different foods, a person will notice the different effects that each food has on the body. There seem to be actually very good reasons that some foods were declared to be unclean. One possible reason is because animals that eat garbage such as a pig or shellfish, including shrimp and lobster, may have diseases because of what they eat. They also have a "lower energy vibration" than that of foods such as fruits and vegetables. Accordingly, this will lower the energetic vibration of a person. So if we eat these things, then we are lowering our vibration and the higher our vibratory state, the closer to God, if that makes any sense to you. I think there there are also other safety issues as well. For instance, clams filter water and possibly dirty water and the residue would remain in their flesh. Bottom dwellers eat garbage, some meats like pork contain parasites and pigs eat everything.

If you follow the Bible, note that Jesus sent demons into swine. Do you think that tells you anything about pigs or their flesh being unclean? If so, do you think that has any effect on your body or that there might be a good reason not to eat pork or any other meats that our holy books say are unclean?  It doesn't mean that you cannot eat these foods if you wish, but just be aware of the energies of different foods and some possible reasons that may have been the reason certain foods were declared "unclean."

Eating animal foods lowers our body's energetic vibration. The life of an animal (or person) is contained in the blood and this makes a huge difference in our energy vibration. When we are eating meat then we are bringing our consciousness level down to the basic levels of animal foods that we eat. I don't know all of the ins and outs of this subject, but think about this for a bit. If everything is energy and it only changes form, then what are the energies and properties of what you are eating?
Really pay attention to how you feel when you eat certain foods.

Is Pork Forbidden to Muslims Only?

The Jews and Christians are also forbidden from eating pork. Here is a quote from the Old Testament to that effect:

"And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase."
                                                                                                                                                                            Deuteronomy 14:8

If our bodies are strong and healthy physically, mentally and emotionally then we have a better chance of increasing our connection with God. It doesn't mean that you can't have a connection to Him if you are not strong in all ways. It just makes it a little harder. If we have strong and healthy bodies, minds and spirits then we can be even more connected with Him and protected by that connection. The more I clear out the lower energy vibrations and eat better then the stronger I feel that my connection becomes. I still work on this daily and I struggle, especially physically, because of the damage to my body so I am not perfect in any sense of the word. However, I did take note of how foods affect my energies along the way and I have found that it does indeed make a difference.  Clean hearts, clean minds, clean feelings, clean body and clean spirit all increase our connection with the Creator. You don't have to do these things but if you want to be closer to God, then these things can help you get there.

FYI: Some web sites of those speaking against new age practices include vegetarianism in their lists of "evil' things. I do not agree with them in this regard. How is killing an animal even for food not evil but only eating plants and grains and harming no animal is evil? That doesn't make sense to me. God doesn't forbid people from eating meat but not killing is one of the ten commandments. For me, this applies to animals as well as people but you may feel differently and wish to eat meat. Energetically speaking, there is a difference in energy between a vegetarian and a person who eats meat. The energy of the vegetarian is generally much lighter, more gentle and much calmer than that of a person who eats meat. Meat eaters have a heavier, thicker energy and sometimes more aggressive energy. Of course this does not apply to everyone but only some observations that I have made over the years with regard to energy.

According to Dr. Royal R. Rife, every disease has a frequency. He found that certain frequencies can prevent the development of disease and that others would destroy disease. Substances with higher frequency will destroy diseases of a lower frequency. The study of frequencies raises an important question, concerning the frequencies of substances we eat, breathe and absorb. Many pollutants lower healthy frequency. Processed/canned food has a frequency of zero. Fresh produce has up to 15 Hz, dried herbs from 12 to 22 Hz and fresh herbs from 20 to 27 Hz.

Essential oils start at 52 Hz and go as high as 320 Hz, which is the frequency of rose oil. Clinical research shows that therapeutic grade essential oils have the highest frequency of any natural substance known to man, creating an environment in which disease, bacteria, virus, fungus, etc., cannot live.

Note to me here that the book The Secret Life of Plants talks about the vibration of foods in one part. I will check on that and see if I can get that info to you asap. See below for the info.

We place emphasis on medicating with potassium because it forms a keystone for achieving healing benefits from use of the Gerson Therapy. This K [potassium] medication is primary to the treatment of tissue damage syndrome (the penetration of Na [sodium] into tissues), found in all cancers and in most other degenerative diseases. It combines with the other medications and dietary regimen to increase cellular K levels, reduce intercellular edema, and restore normal cell function.

When it comes to deciding whether we should improve our lifestyles by following the teachings of Dr. Max Gerson or sustain ourselves, if possible, on snack chips, Danish pastries, pizza, cheeseburgers, ice cream, and  other junk foods, Gabriel Feldman, M.D., director of the prostate and colorectal cancer programs for the American Cancer Society, admits, ‘We don’t need years of research. If people would implement what we know today [about diet and nutrition], cancer rates would drop. It’s that simple.'

FOOD, INC. [movie]

“Food, Inc. lifts the veil on our nation’s food industry, exposing how our nation’s food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health, the livelihood of the American farmer, the safety of workers and our own environment. Food, Inc. reveals surprising – and often shocking truths – about what we eat, how it’s produced and who we have become as a nation.”

I came from a meat, potatoes, vegetables and sugar diet. I was not always vegetarian or vegan (I still use dairy/eggs/cheese on occasion) but this is slowly falling away and my diet becomes more vegan [no animal products] and raw as time passes because this is what feels better to my mind and my body. This is a natural and not a forced change. As I become healthier emotionally, mentally, spiritually and physically, my whole life changes to a healthier way of life. I feel better in many ways than I have ever felt in my life.

I was not always a vegetarian. I was raised on a small farm. I have eaten my share of bacon, dairy, eggs and meat. We would slaughter and have cut up one steer a year for our family of six and it would fill the freezer will a variety of meats that would last until the next year. It was a 6 foot upright freezer. Fresh milk came from the dairy twice a week.

We raised much of our own food. We raised our own beef, pork, rabbit, fruits, vegetables, nuts, grapes, apples, pears, apricots – the best, pomegranates, oranges, lemons and so much more was available.

Food tasted so much better fresh off the tree and when it was ripe. Food in regular grocery stores didn't and doesn’t taste good to me. I didn't like the way that fruits and vegetables tasted in the store so I didn't eat enough of them once I left my parents' house. I don't always eat organic and local but I do my best to get organic and local whenever possible. I shop at local farmer's markets and try to go directly to the farm when possible. I grow some of my own food when possible depending upon where I am living. Even a few pots of tomatoes on an apartment patio or balcony can help immensely.

The beef my father raised tasted so much better than what is in the stores today. Grass-fed beef that you find in the stores tastes the closest to it.

It was and is hard to make the transition to other foods but I really notice how different foods affect me now.

Sugar makes me foggy in the brain. Meat and dairy create inflammation in my body.

Greens calm me and help me think more clearly. My body feels better when I eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, organically grown if possible.

To buy organic groceries I cut meat out of the budget because I could buy more food that way and healthier food. When I started switching over I cut meat down to once or twice a week instead of every day. That helped me to save money and to buy more fruits, vegetables and other healthy choices that filled me up. I also started eating more stir-fry dishes where meat was included but it was mostly for taste and not the main part of the meal. Slowly I phased it out but it no longer tastes good to me either so I don't really miss it. Also, my body feels better when I don't eat meat so this makes a difference for me as well because I can now feel how different foods affect my body when I eat them. Food then begins to take on a whole new meaning and some foods feel more life-giving than other foods. Since I feel better emotionally and mentally now, I also am reaching for healthier foods as well.

Is what I am stuffing in my mouth or eating, worth my life because I am uncomfortable with my feelings?

Before I didn’t care so much and I ate to numb myself a bit. Now, I seriously think about what I am eating and whether or not it is worth my life or my health to try to stuff something. Obviously, I am getting better at handling my feelings and my life. This feels pretty good. I have come a very long way. As feel healthier and stronger mentally, spiritually and emotionally, I start to take care of myself better physically as well. It has happened naturally and is not really something that I have to force myself to do. I want to take better care of myself.

Applying his technique for measuring wavelengths directly to human beings, Simoneton found that the normal healthy person gives off a radiance of about 6,500 [angstroms] or a little higher, whereas the radiations given off by tobacco smokers, alcohol imbibers, and carrion eaters are uniformly lower. Bovis claimed that cancer patients give off a wavelength of 4,875, which, he noted, was the same wavelength as that of over-refined French bread before the Second World War.

However, because a cancer victim will radiate this low level long before any overt symptoms of his disease is in evidence, Bovis pointed out that it is possible to take remedial steps well before the ailment has made serious inroads into the body’s cellular tissue.

It is Bovis and Simoneton’s thesis that human beings should eat fruit, vegetables, nuts, and fresh fish that give off radiations higher than their own normal 6,500, if they wish to energize themselves and feel healthy. They believe that low-radiance foods, such as meats and bad bread, instead of bringing vitality to the body, sap the body of its existing vitality and that that is why one can feel heavy and devitalized from a meal one expected to replenish one’s energy.

The hardest attachment for me to break seems to be the connection between food and my emotions. For years I reached for comfort food and other choices to blunt my emotional pain or block what I was uncomfortable feeling. Even though I no longer have cravings for drugs, alcohol or cigarettes, I still have difficulty using food as a crutch at times. Not as much as I used to and not every day but like today when I am struggling with anger I am having some difficulty. Because of health issues my diet is very strict at the moment and consists of mostly juices, fruits and other raw foods with an occasional baked or mashed potato, without the gravy, salt and other seasoning I am so used to using. I recognize what is happening and I realize that even if I eat carrot sticks instead of cake or gravy then I am still reinforcing that food/emotional eating pattern. This is hard because this is a pattern that I grew up with in childhood. I learned that food was my friend and a great comforter so this is very, very hard for me. I have become stronger emotionally and mentally and I do eat healthier in so many ways. I don’t want the cake or cookies but I’m still struggling with whether or not to eat when I am upset or uncomfortable and that is the cycle that I am trying to break. I would now rather be healthy than numb my feelings but this is the hardest pattern to break because it has been around for so long. Dear God this is the hardest to get through.

Food was my attempt to get emotional comfort that I did not get in my life. I felt no emotional bonds with anyone really for many reasons. That’s why I went looking for God. I needed a parent who could support me emotionally and I needed love, emotional and spiritual support. I needed more guidelines and discipline and firmness and someone to listen to me.

So if you are struggling, take heart because things can and do change. It doesn’t mean that you cannot have comfort food once in a while or on a treat day or once or twice a week but if you have weight issues or a food/emotional connection then try to bring some awareness to what you are doing. It helps to break the pattern or the cycle. As you get stronger emotionally and mentally then you will have an easier time making healthier choices and managing your feelings and your life.

It is now understood that the pineal gland governs the hypothalamus, making the pineal gland the master gland of the entire body. On a diet of cooked food, the pineal gland calcifies and hardens. The brain becomes dense and obstructed with waste matter which would have distorted the cosmic receiver and blocked out the cosmic life energies. A diet of alkaline-plant food dissolves these obstructions and calcite deposits, freeing the flow of energy [not only in the brain but the body as well]. Thus we see that the cleaner your body, the greater your latent powers of mind.

I feel that we are all going to have to make these changes on an individual basis, when we are ready, instead of waiting for the government or others to start to make the changes first. If we can test some of these changes for ourselves in our own lives and show others that they work then we can get the ball rolling. We need everyone’s help to start getting these changes out into the world. Start simple. Change your diet for two weeks and see if you and your kids and family feel better. See how you sleep. See if you can think more clearly. See if you feel different. Go to a support group and see if that helps. When we see that these things work for us and help us to change our lives then maybe we can start to get these changes into the lives of our kids and families. Ask your kids and family what changes they would like to see in their lives. There are lots of possibilities but I do feel that we really need to get ourselves up and start to make these changes, even in little ways, and then start to make these changes in the world instead of waiting for others to do it for us.

Anything that would tend to limit your greatest gift – the power to think and reason clearly – should be eliminated above all things. Any quantity of cooked, or otherwise unhealthy food, clouds the mind to some degree and leaves a residue of debris in the body which dampens the electrical circuitry in the brain.

This site may work for those that would lilke to lose weight but not give up their burgers, pizza, cheese and other goodies. It promises to show how to use protein, slow carbs and fast carbs to keep metabolism high and help one to feel full and lose weight. Might be worth checking out.

This is not a free site or program.

I found that by following a modified Gerson therapy program, along with all fresh juices and raw foods that I was able to lose weight easily without much difficulty, after nothing else seemed to work, even with exercise. I use NO salt in my food and I have lots of fresh vegetables, fruits and juices.
I was also stronger emotionally and mentally and ready to let go of all the stuff.

Something to consider maybe. All of these things in my life have combined and make sense together.

The no salt, vegetarian approach and how I feel so much stronger in my body as a result, gives new meaning to me of the story about Lot's wife turning into a pillar of salt, as well as the fact that once we put our lives in a new direction, there is no going back to the way things were before.

This combination comes from a drink I recently tried at Jamba Juice:

Combine 2-3 kale leaves (take off the stem), 1 banana, 5-6 ice cubes and orange juice/grapefruit juice to cover in a blender or the Nutribullet.  Add a little flaxseed oil. Bend until smooth and enjoy.''

Research now suggests that depression and dementia are affected by the quality of our diets across the life course.

Indeed, studies from countries as diverse as Norway, Spain, Japan, China, the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia show people whose diets are healthier are less likely to experience depression.

Research also shows that people who eat more unhealthy and junk foods are at increased risk of depression. This seems to also be the case in adolescents.

An article on healing the healing crisis and reactions when one has been using nutrition to heal the body, mind and spirit.  We can feel worse before we feel better at times and it can be scary so be aware of what is happening. Take a look at this article and others out there if you are using nutrition/food to help your body heal. it happens on all levels.

Each one of us is a flower in God's garden.

Nutrition is not only about the food we eat to give our bodies life.

It is also about what we feed our heart and soul, what music we listen to, what movies we watch, our thoughts and beliefs, our friends and family, our spiritual lives, our emotional life, our mind, our work, our play and other aspects of life.

Our thoughts and what we speak, especially, can make a huge difference in our lives.

What if you were feeding a child in all ways of life?

What kinds of spiritual, emotional, mental and physical food would you give the child to give it the best possible chance for survival in this world?

What choices bring life into the world?

Mineral Broth - well known in nutritional healing circles for its power to help the body heal and release toxins during a healing reaction or an  illness.

Place potatoes, onions, garlic, carrots, celery, some rosemary or other seasonings (no salt), kale, parsley and other greens like spinach or chard, some cabbage or any other vegetables you desire into a deep pot. Cover with water and let simmer for an hour or so or until vegetables are soft.

One can either drain off the broth and drink or blend everything in a blender for a thick soup.

I drink this broth every day to give my body much needed vitamins and minerals. I also  use it when I get a healing reaction or feel any kind of sickness. It helps clear up any cold or illness I might catch much faster than without it.

For those of you who no longer want to eat meat or cut down on it, I have found that there are now many varieties of plant protein powder in natural grocery stores that seem to work very well for me. Combined with flax oil or 3/6/9 oil in my smoothies, this works very well for me.

When taking meat out of my diet left me hungry, I found that adding more protein powder and also, more healthy fats, made a huge difference in curbing my hunger pangs and also gave my body the needed building blocks. I added flax oil or a 3-6-9 oil into my smoothies and avocado and coconut products in as well.

For years my cholesterol level, even in my twenties, was around 217 and it was so difficult to reduce despite exercise, lean meats and such. It was only, for me, after switching to a vegetarian, mostly vegan - meaning no animal products including meat, dairy, butter, etc., except on occasion, that I was able to reduce my cholesterol levels. Last check it was 148 and went as low as 136.
