Medication

I feel that each person has to decide for themselves whether or not to use medication to help manage their symptoms; however, I also feel that one should have updated information and be fully informed about how the medications work or do not work and what they do in order to make their choice.  I do feel that medication can have a place in recovery when absolutely necessary but perhaps not a permanent place in most instances.

DO NOT STOP TAKING YOUR MEDICATION WITHOUT THE CONSENT AND MONITORING OF YOUR DOCTOR. ABRUPTLY STOPPING MEDICATION CAN BE DANGEROUS AND SHOULD NOT BE DONE WITHOUT THE SUPERVISION OF A PHYSICIAN.

Please remember that I am not a doctor or any kind of medical or mental health professional. The information posted on this site is based upon my own personal experience and research.  I do not give mental health or medical advice nor should any information on this site be taken as any kind of medical advice. This is only an attempt to make you aware of new developments, different options and other choices so that you can decide for yourself how you want to handle your recovery.

I recommend that you have emotional support and guidance available at all times if possible. I also suggest consulting a qualified professional that can help guide you through the emotional releases, setting up a program and other issues.

"A growing number of studies are showing that fluorine added to drugs and to drinking water can have a profound and prolonged harmful effect on the brain. At present, I am reviewing all the studies done on fluorinated pharmaceutical drugs and their effects on the brain. What I have found is shocking. There is a strong link between the use of many of these drugs and violent behavior, including homicides and suicides."

First, psychiatrists have given up on understanding their patients. They don't do psychotherapy anymore. They essentially just prescribe drugs (mainly anti-depressants). They now call themselves psychopharmacologists instead of psychotherapists. For psychotherapy, you have to go to a psychologist (who got a graduate degree in psychology, but did not go to med school, and is not allowed to prescribe drugs).

I spent lots of time legally medicated...were some of my symptoms my own or were they caused by the medication? If the medication is supposed to correct some supposed chemical imbalance, how come I only continued to get worse and worse over the years and not better?

"Early symptoms of poisoning are generally not recognized, as they are commonly experienced. These can include excess salivation, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. One must wonder how many people believe they have flu when they're actually suffering from fluorine poisoning.

Fluorine poisoning can also result in neurological damage, including headaches, tremors, spasms, tetanic contractions, hyperactive reflexes, seizures, and muscle weakness. Ultimately, it causes teratogenic disorders—birth defects of the worst sort."

"Fluorine Poison Is Rampant in Pharmaceuticals."  This article has a list of pharmaceuticals containing Fluorine.

I suffered from many of the above symptoms but I am also NOT a chemist or a scientist nor was I ever a science major so do your own research on this issue. DO NOT just stop taking your medication without the supervision of a physician since that could have negative side effects.

Medication, even if dangerous, can help us deal with the pain or the symptoms until we can find other ways of helping ourselves. I found that my pain and sadness came back with a vengeance when I tried to stop the antidepressants without using other methods to help me get better.

"Prozac
is a fluorinated drug called "fluoxetine".

Paxil is a fluorinated drug called "paroxetine" (also called Seroxat, Aropax). These drugs are designed to inhibit the reuptake of serotonin (serotonin reuptake inhibitors - SSRIs) and hence interfere with the biological actions of serotonin, a neurotransmitter.

Both drugs contain fluorine and chloride. Fluoride is present as a '4-fluorophenyl' compound, part of the 'active' ingredient. "

This video is about some of the effects of giving psychiatric meds to children, including anti-depressants and more. Could we all be doing things differently such as proper nutrition, talking to our kids, supporting our kids or helping them have better life skills first, before considering medication. How about asking your child what they need first? What about ourselves, those of us who take antidepressants? We could do the same for ourselves that we would do for our children.

Historically, most cases of fluoride poisoning have been caused by accidental ingestion of insecticides containing inorganic fluoride,[181] Currently, most calls to poison control centers for possible fluoride poisoning come from the ingestion of fluoride-containing toothpaste.[178] Malfunction of water fluoridation equipment has occurred several times, including an Alaskan incident, [which affected nearly 300 people and killed one]. This last part in brackets used to be in this article but no longer.[182]

Here is what happened according to an article in the New England Journal of Medicine:

Among 47 residents studied who drank water obtained on May 21, 22, or 23 from the implicated well, 43 (91 percent) had an illness that met the case definition, as compared with only 6 of 21 residents (29 percent) who drank water obtained from the implicated well at other times and 2 of 94 residents (2 percent) served by the other water system. We estimated that 296 people were poisoned; 1 person died.

"Fluoride Toxicity."

Our society has institutionalized drug abuse among our children. Worse yet, we abuse our children with drugs rather than making the effort to find better ways to meet their needs. In the long run, we are giving our children a very bad lesson--that drugs are the answer to emotional problems. We are encouraging a generation of youngsters to grow up relying on psychiatric drugs rather than on themselves and other human resources.

Summarized from Talking Back to Ritalin by Peter R. Breggin, M.D.

First of all, please know that I realize that all of you are doing the best that you can in your life. I know just how HARD life can be when you are in the depths of emotional pain that you cannot or do not know how to handle. I do know that taking your medication or drinking or drugs or whatever it is that you are doing is the best way that you know how to handle what is happening in your life. I know how hard it can be just to get up and brush your teeth, comb your hair, take a shower and get dressed so that you can do the best you can to face your day. Some of the things that I have to say may be a little harsh at times but this is not done with the intent to hurt anyone's feelings or make anyone feel guilty that they are not doing enough. I too, am still doing the best I can to get out what I feel is some very important information and I am a little rough around the edges at times.

My apologies if I seem uncaring or not sensitive to your situation. I do care about each and every one of you. That is why this site is up. I do know that people become trapped by life, by circumstances, by lack of money, by lack of choices and for other reasons that may make it very difficult or too challenging to overcome. Maybe we just try to be happy no matter what because that is the best that we can do in our lives. That's okay. If and when anyone wants to make some changes, then maybe this site can help.

At the time I was taking medication I was unable to deal with the severe emotional pain in my life because I had never been taught how and I didn't have any emotional support, like so many of us in the world today. For so many years I did not know that the medications were actually toxic to the brain and cut us off from ourselves and what makes us who we are. I did however find this out during my journey. I found out much of the information about how the meds work just recently while doing some research and putting my book together. While it is true that there are many different reasons for mental illness, I do feel that the causes go beyond the physical. Perhaps it can be said that the drugs, legal and illegal, help us blunt the pain until we can find better ways of dealing with our pain and suffering; however, had I known that there were healthier ways of dealing with life and with my pain and that there was in all likelihood no actual chemical imbalance, I might not have lost so many years of my life to the depression and panic.

The medications may have kept me alive all those years but I feel that they were also toxic to my brain and to my body. Neither one of my psychiatrists in over ten years ever pointed me in the direction of some real help like learning new skills and such. I was told about biofeedback and that was it. Those years are very foggy now but I don't recall anything ever being mentioned about group therapy, learning new skills, nutrition or anything else. I found out about group therapy and learning new skills when I called a psychiatric hospital for a referral to a doctor. This was just over twenty years from the first time I saw a doctor for depression. Why I was not told sooner about other options I do not know. What is broken in our system that needs to be fixed? Maybe I was just ready to let others closer to me and to learn new skills after all of the other work that I had done to get better and so that is when I found out about the other options.

I saw psychiatrists for over ten years for severe, clinical type depression and panic related to the PTSD (undiagnosed by them) and all they ever did was to provide me with a prescription and a couple of hours of "talk therapy" every few weeks for so. I recognize that I was in severe trouble and that it was not all the doctor's fault. I didn't trust anyone at that point and I would not let anyone get close to me in any way. My symptoms only worsened over the years but I realize now that could have happened as a result of the toxicity of the medications, lack of skills, isolation and lack of support, among other factors. Medication and some talk therapy really did nothing for me over the years but I didn't know where else to go. Eventually I found my way out but only when I was in so much pain that I could hardly stand it. I did it on my own out of sheer desperation and a desire to live. My heart and my spirit were broken.

I do recognize and acknowledge that there are many people who need the medication to help them function and many who have been so severely traumatized by what has happened to them that they will most likely never be able to get off of psychiatric medications. I acknowledge that many have been helped by the medications; however, I am not convinced that they work in the manner that we have come to believe that they work. I am just trying to present what I discovered during my recovery as well as some of the recent research and opinions of doctors about the medications.

The disturbances are profound and only a select few who are able to avail themselves of costly,
intense treatment facilities will experience a recovery that places them within the normal range.
The severely disturbed often live a marginal life. Medications have made it possible for people who
would have heretofore spent the majority of their lives institutionalized, to  live, work, and maintain
a family in the outside world.

      http://www.uic.edu/orgs/convening/disturbe.htm

I also feel that other options besides medication might work much better in the long run to help people recover. I don't know if our society is comfortable with our own feelings on a whole, let alone with the feelings of those that are suffering. We seem to just want uncomfortable things to go away instead of being able to deal with them in a healthier manner. I don't think we can afford to continue on in the way that we have been treating those with emotional difficulties and that it warrants another look or some different considerations in treatment.

One of the reasons that I went looking for God in my recovery is because there was nobody else on this planet that had the time, the patience and the knowledge of what I needed most to help me get better. God gave me, and still does, all the time that I needed to talk, to cry, to be angry and to recover in the way that I needed. He listened every time that I wanted to talk - no matter how long. I don't feel that anyone here could have done that for me. I received more love, support and comfort from Him that I could have gotten anywhere else. There are simply no persons available to spend that much time with anyone for their healing and perhaps that is just how it should be. Perhaps Father is the best person for us all to turn to for help with our damaged and wounded spirits.

I tried to get off of the anti-depressants many times over the years but my symptoms returned after I stopped taking the anti-depressants, sometimes with an almost unbearable vengeance. It seems now, years later, that those symptoms were actually my pain returning. Because I did not know how to deal with the unbearable pain, I had to either take anti-depressants or self-medicate. It took me a long time to learn how to deal with the symptoms and to go into the pain energetically and remove or release it from my body. I can say this now because I am now releasing the energy from my head. What was once a seemingly inflexible mass of hard energy in my head, with a golf-ball size center of pain, surrounding my spirit, in the frontal area, is now more flexible and free now that some of the pain and old energies have been released. In fact, I can feel movement now that the energy can move more freely.

One should be aware of the following regarding discontinuing medication since it is likely that the emotional pain will return upon withdrawal.   It would be very difficult if someone does not have the skills  to handle the pain or does not have emotional support as well so just be aware of this possibility.

If a medicated client chooses to withdraw from the drugs, he must usually do so without
support. …psychosis is often one of the side effects of withdrawing from antipsychotic drugs
(Breggin, 1991; Breggin & Cohen, 1999). So, during withdrawal, the task of the subconscious
mind is to not only dissociate the original pain and the felt violation of the psychiatric system,
but also the emotional pain caused by the withdrawal psychosis.

Learning new skills and healthier ways of communicating, coping and being okay with expressing the real me did more for me to help me recover than any medication. Although these methods took measurable time, I found that they were more lasting and allowed me to be myself and to not have to take medication.

I did not know it at the time that I was doing my work that some doctors  and others were discovering that there is no actual chemical imbalance and that the medications essentially act like a "chemical lobotomy." (See the movie Generation Rx on Netflix which is a fee-based site). This is distressing to say the least. If they did not know how to treat us, then I feel that they should have told us so that we could find other ways, instead of giving us drugs that just cut us off from ourselves. To be fair to the doctors, I think many of us put too much responsibility for our recovery upon others, especially doctors, and do not take enough charge of our own lives especially when it comes to our physical and emotional health.

Many times it takes years for us to get sick and then we want a pill to make it all go away and NOW, like children. We are already cut off from ourselves physically and emotionally and unhealthy in those areas of our life. I feel that is why we have so many difficulties but I simply do not feel that a lobotomy, chemical or physical, is the way to go. Of course, this is what we do to ourselves with drugs and alcohol in seeking escape from that which makes us uncomfortable. We are appalled at the old-time, barbaric, physical lobotomies that took place but we are still doing the same thing to ourselves and to others just in a different manner. This includes drugs, alcohol, food and legal prescriptions which we use to numb ourselves. In addition, the medications can also cause symptoms of psychosis and mental illness due to toxicity in addition to cutting us off from ourselves.

…these drugs [some psychiatric drugs] block the transmission to the frontal lobes of the
brain that makes us love and hate…think abstractly, give us judgment, that’s the human
being…When you give one of these drugs you reduce the personhood. We disable their
brains. It’s a chemical lobotomy…[1]This then, cannot qualify as free will. A chemical
manipulation of consciousness without regard for human life.

What can we do differently so that the emotional, feeling part of us can be integrated into our life in a healthy way?

I never thought that God made me defective in any way. There is nothing wrong with me or you. Our symptoms and our illnesses are our spirit's way of telling us that we have been wounded or hurt and the pain is letting us know that something requires our attention. If we have not been wounded in any way, the symptoms are still our spirits trying to get our attention and convey some information to us. Some doctors and tyhe pharmaceutical industry would have us believe that we are missing something in our bodies but I do not feel that is true, at least in most instances anyways. I do not know what long term stress and the meds do to the brain physically. What I was lacking was not a chemical in my brain but better emotional skills to handle my life and my pain, a more supportive emotional environment and some healthier life skills. I also needed love in my life.

I had to heal the trauma and release the fear as well. When I was able to make some simple changes in my life and gain new skills and emotional support, which for me included a real connection with God where I could actually feel His love, then I was able to recover my life and align with my spirit again. I went to God because there was nobody for me here in this world in relationships. It was the best thing that I ever did because I found that His love was what helped to heal me the most and what gave me back my life. I also had to get rid of the intense fear that was affecting me. By replacing fear with love I am at peace. I feel strong and capable and loved. I need no medication at all and I do not feel that I am missing any chemical in my brain.

Just as fear is energy so is love. It is the energy of love that is the most powerful energy of all and what helped me to recover. There is nothing stronger than the energy of love and it can erase all fear, sorrow, pain, grief and clear out old the old energies that we have hanging around in our bodies. I have felt energy clear out of my body for the last nine years and it is pretty amazing what these energies can do to us. I talk about this more in my book and about the energies of the different emotions and feelings, as well as how love and support helped me to recover. This is not just me talking and making it up that our feelings have energies. There is documentation out there that fear and love have the quality of a vibration to them and appear as different wavelengths.  There is evidence out there that feelings have an energy or a vibration to them. Please see the articles on feeling your feelings and learning to feel energy for more information.

I do feel that medication can have a place for those who are unable to handle their severe pain and symptoms and for some people they may need to take medication for the rest of their lives for their own personal reasons and beliefs. I also very strongly feel that in order to recover or get better, one must make effort to learn healthier ways and new skills. Recovery goes beyond just medication. I had to figure out what I needed and then proceed to either teach myself or get help somewhere to learn what I did not learn when I was younger. I was still a child emotionally and I had to help myself grow up in order to recover. Each person will have their own unique requirements and that is what I am also trying to emphasize. One way does not work for everyone.

A person can choose to remain on medication if they are unable or unwilling to learn how to deal with their pain or symptoms but I think that one should know that it is not necessarily a lack of chemicals that is causing the illness. Your symptoms are quite possibly your spirit trying to protect you and tell you that you have been hurt badly or get your attention in some way. Blunting your pain or symptoms may make you feel a whole lot better but recognize that you are still cut off from a part of yourself that will not heal until you become willing and able to face whatever it is that is making you uncomfortable or that you are trying to deny expression. This requires feelings of safety and trust for the person attempting to recover as well as love, support, compassion and understanding on the part of the person assisting.

I think that medication can be beneficial and that it has helped many, many people but I also feel that it can be dangerous and should be used only when necessary. There are studies that show that these medications can have serious and deadly side effects in some instances. I have taken at least one medication that I stopped taking after three days because it was affecting my state of mind very adversely. I started to think that I really was going crazy after three days on the medication (not a psych med by the way). Well, after a lifetime of dealing with depression, panic attacks and other symptoms, I can tell the difference. The medication definitely had an adverse effect on me. Before he died, my nephew said that he did not want to take the psych medication because of the effects on his mental state. I do not know if those effects contributed to his death in any way.

It seems that too many people are only being offered medication when there are other safer and more practical solutions such as learning some new communication and coping skills that would serve them better in the long run.

It is not just medication that we use to blunt our pain. We also can use food, drugs - legal and illegal, alcohol, exercise, smoking, work and other things to help us not feel what we do not wish to feel.

Depression is suppression of feelings or of ourselves for many reasons. Other symptoms of mental illness can arise from suppression of feelings, trauma, abuse and for many other reasons. The depression and other symptoms act as a protective mechanism for the spirit, body and mind and prevent further hurt because the person avoids what is causing the pain and other symptoms. There are many, many reasons for the symptoms of mental illness and I do not pretend to know them all. I only attempt to talk about those symptoms that have affected me.

What if our symptoms were supported by society instead of being looked at as something not okay or weak? What if it was okay to be horribly upset and depressed after the breakup of a relationship? How about it being okay just to be different? What if it was okay to be a manic-depressive and wonderfully creative for days in connection with life and then okay to crash for four or five days or so instead of being made to feel that this is some kind of illness? What if it were okay to be hyperactive. I found that my symptoms intensified the more I ignored what my spirit was trying to tell me. When I actually listened to my symptoms and my spirit, the symptoms lessened and in many instances, disappeared. Maybe not right away, but the more that I explored my feelings the less intense the symptoms became over time.

I don't know how it works in all situations. I only know how it worked in my life. The only way you will know what your spirit is trying to tell you is to learn how to listen to it. That is why this is such an individual journey and requires that each person start to take a look at their own life and their own symptoms and make their own effort.

As I was doing some more research (8/2012) into anti-depressants, the chemical imbalance theory and the use of fluoride in anti-depressants, I came across the following articles which I think you might find very interesting and informative, especially the first one:

To say that I was unhappy when I found out some of this information is an understatement to say the least. On top of all of the trauma and suffering, I was being given drugs which were potentially poisonous to my brain and my body. I am now even more convinced that medication is not the way to go. I know that it kept me alive by cutting me off from myself and my pain but I feel lied to by the doctors and the pharmaceutical companies. I didn't want to be cut off from myself. I spent years and years and years seeking help. I know that I had serious problems. That is why I was seeking help. I don't think though in retrospect that it was all me. I do think that the medications had some harmful effects on my mental state and my ability to think clearly.

My symptoms got worse and worse over the years. I thought it was all me. I had no idea that the symptoms of feeling like I was going crazy, suicidal thoughts, feeling like I was slipping into another dimension and other symptoms bothering me could have been caused by the very medication that was supposed to be helping me. I suffered for years and years. I had horrible side effects from the medication but the unrelenting panic, sadness and depression were worse than the side effects of the medication. The worst side effect of the medication was this horrible feeling of being FLAT. That was worse than feeling the depression. I tried everything I knew to get better at the time and it was all I could do some days to hold on and get through the sadness and other symptoms. I feel failed by the psychiatrists and lied to by the pharmaceutical companies.

This is basically what is currently being said about psychiatric medications by many professionals:

Too wide a variety of brain-disabling agents are used to treat every disorder – everything
from Prozac to Xanax to electroshock is prescribed for depression – and each treatment
ends up disrupting innumerable brain functions. In reality, all currently available
biopsychiatric interventions cause direct harm to the brain and hence to the mind
    without correcting any known malfunctions.
    http://psychiatrybuster.blogspot.com/2007/11/psychiatric-drugs-can-cause-brain_06.html

To say that I am happy to be alive is true. To say that I am unhappy with the damage to my memory, my brain and my body because of all that happened and what I feel is a lack of responsible treatment is also true. Yes, I self-medicated and I'm sure that contributes to my difficulties; however, I probably would never have done that if I would have been attended to properly, learned some skills earlier in life and been given proper referrals to psychotherapists. I thought I was doing everything possible to help myself get better.

So...I would like to promote education and learning new skills and healthier ways of living so that people don't even need to use medication in the first place. I feel that if we can start teaching our children healthy life skills when they are young then they will not have to experience the serious mental, physical and spiritual diseases that plague our world today. For all our knowledge, technology and medical advances there are still many unhealthy, sick people in this world.

If the psychiatrists and the pharmaceutical companies didn't know how to treat us they should have told us. To hide the real truth about the studies that were done and the damaging data is irresponsible. For the pharmaceutical companies to pay doctors to sign off on reports of drug trials that they never supervised and then send these ghostwritten papers to medical journals which other doctors rely on for information is also irresponsible and should be investigated further and stopped.

This information might help shed some light on the situation of pharmaceutical
companies, universities and research and the doctors who were/are on the boards:

University presidents… were between a rock and an economic hard place in the Reagan/Bush years—and opted for survival by creating a new era of commercialized academia. It soon became acceptable for scientists to have a commercial affiliation while being paid as a basic researcher…” “Some bargains are Faustian, and some horses are Trojan,”… “Dance carefully with the porcupine, and know in advance the price of intimacy."[1]

If the pharmaceutical companies, the doctors and anyone else have been negligent in not giving us all of the information about the risks and exactly how the drugs work, perhaps they could fork some money over to help set up programs that will really help society to conquer “mental illness.” If there is nothing to hide then everything is okay. If not, then as Ricky Ricardo says in I Love Lucy, “Lucy, you have some ‘splainin to do.”

I don’t know that we have been given all of the information that we need to make an informed decision about taking these medications. I know that there are always risks involved and that one has to weigh the risks against the benefits when deciding to take a medication. I’m just not sure that we have been given all of the information that we needed to make a totally informed decision. I’m not sure our doctors know all the information.

I do not feel that the FDA has our best interests at heart at the moment and it seems that there are severe conflicts of interests between the agency, the doctors, the universities and the pharmaceutical companies. I suggest you do some research on your own in addition to what I have given you in this section and in the Medication sections in the Resource Guide as far as the safety or not of psychiatric medications. Perhaps there can be blame for the things that have happened that contribute to this situation, but I think the bigger question is: where do we go from here? What can we do to change things for the better? How can we help ourselves and our children get better without taking medication if at all possible? How can we help others get better so that medication does not have to be taken for the rest of one’s life?

I don’t know about anyone else, but the fact that doctors are paid by the pharmaceutical companies to sign off on drug studies they never supervised, basic researchers are paid by the pharmaceutical companies, researchers and doctors are then hired later by the companies at high salaries, the companies ghostwriting papers and doctors endorsing the medications to be given to people without knowledge of the testing is unacceptable and does not contain enough checks and balances for safety. This is by far too much of a conflict of interest and a lack of regulation in the way medications are approved for use in the general population. This is irresponsible medicine, approval and testing. I suggest some serious changes in the way these drugs are tested and approved. The FDA is supposed to work for the benefit of the people but it seems to be working more for the benefit of the pharmaceutical companies at the moment, who take in billions of dollars annually from the sale of prescription psychiatric medications.

I suggest watching this movie for more information:

"Psychiatry: The Marketing of Madness: Are We All Insane."

The Marketing of Madness is the definitive documentary on the psychiatric
drugging industry. Here is the real story of the high income partnership between
psychiatry and drug companies that has created an $80 billion psychotropic drug
profit centre. But appearances are deceiving. How valid are psychiatrists’
diagnoses – and how safe are their drugs?...

The New England Journal of Medicine
printed a case whose author had so many financial ties to drug
companies …. these financial conflicts covered three, single-spaced typewritten pages…. In many instances
respectable journals have been fooled into publishing studies written by drug company ghostwriters but
falsely credited to prominent psychiatrists who are paid up to $20,000 to put their names on it…..as many
as 50% of published psychiatric research papers are ghostwritten.
[2]

The practice of ghostwriting to this extent makes the papers, the journals, the psychiatrists and the drug companies suspect and untrustworthy. That the drug companies ghostwrite these published papers and then pay doctors to put their names on the studies is unacceptable in my opinion. Medical journals receive huge amounts of money for pharmaceutical company advertising. The psychiatrists are paid to put their names on articles and they do not even supervise the studies or write the papers, yet they get paid big bucks to put their names on these papers. The drug companies write these papers. This is a serious conflict of interest [when one or more parties has a vested interest such as stock, bonds, a financial interest or is an employee] and it is not acceptable when it comes to matters of medications and people’s health.

Judges are removed from court cases for less of a conflict than this and those judicial cases do not involve the health of the general population. This should no longer be tolerated. There are reasons that the conflict of interest laws are in place. They are there to protect people from unscrupulous individuals, judges, public officials and companies. These laws prevent them from accepting bribes as well as preventing other unlawful conduct from interfering with a fair trial or other issue which should have neutral or impartial participants. There might be a waiver issued for a minor conflict but not for a major conflict of interest. This is normal every day law practice. How did these persons and companies become exceptions to this rule, especially when dealing with matters of public health?

I recognize that everyone is just trying to make a living and support themselves and their families; however, the pharmaceutical companies make billions of dollars in profit. If we are being misled or knowingly being given medication that harms us, results in permanent damage to our brains and contributes to psychosis and suicides, for the sake of the almighty dollar, then they all deserve to lose their jobs. Join the rest of us in the unemployment line. This includes the doctors, the researchers, the university presidents, government officials, the drug companies, the FDA people and anyone else responsible. I feel that the doctors and the companies are guilty of abuse and rape of the public whom they are supposed to serve and protect. I feel that they are compromising
themselves and doing humanity a terrible disservice.

I think all of you guys involved owe us an explanation and an accounting for what you have all done. Billions may have been made off of the lies, the sickness, the injuries and the deaths caused by these “medications” and your greed while the dangers have been hidden from the general public. All of you have placed your own livelihood, greed and profits above the value of countless numbers of people’s lives and their health. Millions may have been damaged by these drugs over the years and many have died as a result. If we have been lied to and misled intentionally, the pharmaceutical companies should be held liable and their billions of dollars in profits distributed to society to help start programs that will help people really get better.

Suppose a group of children is standing on the shore of an island … waving their arms... the universal distress signal ... imagine that a 'hospital ship' spots the children … the doctor orders the nurses to give the children Prozac or Ritalin to abort their signals of distress… ship departs without finding out why the children are alone on the island, where their parents are…ridiculous…happening throughout the nation. Millions of children are desperately signaling distress and doctors are sending them home with drugs that suppress their ability to communicate their distress.[3]

If the doctors didn’t know what to do or how to treat us, they could have told us the truth. We would have found another way instead of relying for years on medications that we thought would help us get better. I do not advocate violence or lawsuits but if they have intentionally fooled us because of their own ego, pride or greed, then I suggest that they become responsible and help us start programs that will really help people and society get better. There are better ways than only medication. Our family members, ourselves and our friends have become ill or died because there are those that hid the true nature of the brain-toxic chemicals in these medications from us.

...concepts of "mental illness" and "mental disorder" are misleading...none of the problems commonly
treated by psychiatrists are genetic or biological in origin....However, the brain-disabling principles
remain valid even if some of the mental phenomena that are being treated turn out to have a genetic or
biological basis. All of the currently available biopsychiatric treatments - drugs, electroshock, and
psychosurgery -have their primary or therapeutic effect by impairing or disabling normal brain function.

http://psychiatrybuster.blogspot.com/2007/11/psychiatric-drugs-can-cause-brain_06.html

There are those that want to mess with our genes and those of our food. There are those that want to change the way that God created us and this world because they think that He made a mistake or something. Give us a break. There is nothing wrong with us or the way that we are made. That is what brought down Atlantis. They are not gods nor are they our Creator so strop trying to act like it.

I watch this movie and I bristle with anger. There seems to be a pill for everything and an illness in everyone. This is not correct. There is nothing wrong with most of us that cannot be fixed by new coping and emotional life skills, proper nutrition, contact with ourselves and with God and other factors. Teaching our kids that there is something wrong with them that would require medication for the rest of their lives is a tremendous disservice to them and to ourselves. Many of us were raised in a generation where keeping quiet about everything and not talking to other people was the norm. Many of us did not learn good coping skills or communication skills, self-esteem, confidence or how to be strong, among other skills. Many of us did not grow up with good nutrition, especially the generation today. Many in the younger generation are growing up without any kind of teaching about God.

People have children and become parents yet many are unwilling or unable to take the time to give their children the support that they need, especially emotionally, or to teach them the skills that they need to survive emotionally in the world for one reason or another. I'm not blaming. I'm just saying that we need healthier ways of dealing with our emotional lives. Then the children are taught that something is wrong with them and given a drug pushed on the children and the families by the doctors and the drug companies. Then they are not told that there are other options available that could help them all lead healthier and happier lives without medication and the risks involved. These drugs are potentially toxic, they can and do cause physical and mental injuries, psychosis, hallucinations, suicides and cut you off from yourself. Just medicating people, especially our kids, from day one, has now become the norm for the psychiatric and pharmaceutical industry who are now trying to convince parents that there is something wrong with their children. What could use some improvement in my opinion is that parents start talking and listening to their children and themselves, helping everyone to feel important and loved, eating healthier and learning emotional life skills. We would do much better if we started taking much more responsibility for our own health in all ways. We do have choices. We do have control over our own lives. We do not have to be or feel like we are at the mercy of those we perceive to be stronger than us.

We are so much more than only physical bodies. We have a spirit and a soul that needs taking care of in this world as well as our bodies. We have so much more control over our health and our lives that we realize. When you are able to get out of the "victim" mentality and see it from another perspective, speaking of myself, then your whole perception of life changes. When you can get rid of all of the fear and help yourself to be stronger life changes dramatically. I can surely tell you that because it happened for me. Physically my body suffers from all the things that happened but my spirit feels free, strong, loved and supported by something bigger than myself. More importantly, I feel good with myself. I feel whole and I feel strong. I no longer look to or need others to be the authority in my life. I am not perfect in any sense of the word but my spirit feels wonderful. You can have the same feeling in your life with some effort.

I do not feel that God made most of us defective in a way that would require medication for the rest of our lives. It is our spirits that are trying to warn us that something is wrong that is creating the symptoms of mental illness, at least for the most part in my opinion. To continue to medicate problems away will only result in a population that becomes weak, as well as a slave to the medications and to the idea that there is something wrong with them. This is far from the truth. It is just the opposite in my opinion. As far as I am concerned something is very right and our spirits are trying to warn us that something is very wrong. We are looking in the wrong place by looking only to the physical and we dishonor ourselves and our Creator by so doing. The very people that we go to for help are doing us a tremendous disservice by allowing themselves to be bought out by the pharmaceutical companies. Our doctors have done us a disservice in promoting only these drugs if they knew of other ways that help us. We have done ourselves a disservice by only taking medication for problems that could be resolved in other healthier ways. Instead of looking for other solutions we ask for and take the medication so that the problem just goes away. We look to others for answers when we could be looking inside of ourselves.

As far as all of us that are suffering – there is a better way and you do not necessarily have to take medication for the rest of your life. There is real living on the other side of the pain. If you want to get better and stop taking the medication, it WILL take effort on your part. It WILL be uncomfortable. It WILL be difficult at times. It WILL require that you listen to your spirit and to God in whatever way works for you. This is a journey in which you will have to take charge of your life and responsibility for your own recovery. So much of the journey is an individual learning experience and not something that someone else can do for you.

I went to God last for my own reasons. I would recommend that you go to Him first if possible. The journey might be a lot easier for you if you do. I went the long way around because I was afraid to let love into my life. I guess that is the way that I had to do it but I wish I could have let Him in a lot earlier.

If you want to continue on in your numb state and to take the nearest pill for everything that doesn’t feel good, keep on going. For those of you that are suffering, you may never get out of that unhappy existence if you continue to take these medications for the rest of your life. If you want to get better there are other ways but it does require learning how to deal with your problems, your feelings and your life in an open and honest manner instead of continuing to hide and be miserable. I recognize that we might have been lied to but we also didn’t know how to or want to face our problems, mostly because of fear and a lack of skills. We are legal addicts whether we know it or not and whether we like it or not.

Now that we know that there is most likely no chemical imbalance and that there is another way – what are we going to do? Are we going to give our children the same drugs and possibly poison and numb them as well as ourselves so that we don’t have to learn to deal with either them or ourselves and find out the real causes for the anxiety, being hyperactive or any other symptoms? You brought your children into this world so take responsibility for them instead of medicating them away or out of your hair. Most of our being uncomfortable comes from an inability to be comfortable with our own feelings but that damages us, others and our children.  I apologize if I speak too harshly here but I felt very hurt by being ignored and yelled at because I didn't feel good and nobody wanted to help me, at least emotionally. They just wanted me to go back to work and be okay and sweep it all under the rug.  Silence changes nothing and it is hurtful in so many ways. Having your feelings ignored and feeling like none of it or yourself matters to anyone is very hurtful. Ignoring your child or giving them medication just to make uncomfortable things go away is ignoring their soul and spirit and quite damaging. How would you feel? It wasn't a nice feeling and so, can we stop the madness with our generations here and now and help ourselves, others and our kids.

If you sense that I am somewhat angry about all of this that would be true to some extent. I lost a lot of years to suffering and excruciating emotional pain. I also lost two family members to this craziness, at least one of which had difficulties with the psych medications. I would very much like to see some changes in the way mental illness is treated. I would like to see changes in how "mental" illness is viewed by society and help to remove the shame that many associate with "mental" illness. I would like others to see that our difficulties lie more with a lack of skills than any weakness of mind or brain disorder, as well as a stuffing down of our souls and our spirits in this world. If I were really weak-minded I would have been dead years ago. It takes a lot of strength to get through these difficulties and we do the best that we can on any given day. I would like to see methods utilizing an approach that did not focus on medication only put into treatment programs. I want the idea that there is something wrong with all of us shown to be false. There is nothing wrong with us. I would like to see workable programs put into effect or offered to people in a convenient, low-cost, much more affordable manner than what is presently available today. I want to see these life and spiritual skills taught in school for free to our children so that they can have healthier lives than us. I want to change or prevent what I see as an ongoing rise in suffering, depression and spiritually distressed people in this world. I want to see some positive, realistic changes and not just an increase in medication use as the only solution. I want to see the real causes addressed and not just have the symptoms removed. I want all of us to be free to be ourselves and to have a bigger understanding of life and love. I want everyone to be able to touch their spirit and to be in touch with the Creator in their own way.

For those of you who have parents or family members that may be unwilling or unable to get off of the medications or do what is necessary to get their lives back, you will have to do what I did. I had to teach myself everything that I was not taught or that I did not learn when I was younger. You will have to be your own parent and teach yourself new skills, healthier ways of living, how to be strong and reclaim your life if you want to really recover and get your life back. I see no other way. Then, we can begin to teach a younger generation from day one how to live healthier lives all the way around. One of the reasons that I did not have children was because I did not want them to go through the same emotional suffering that I went through. Why would I want to give or subject a child to a truly miserable existence? I couldn’t even take care of myself emotionally, let alone a child, and I did not want to raise a child all by myself. The emotional pain and suffering was HELL on earth.

My parents did not know how to give me the emotional skills that I needed but now that I know better I will try to pass on what I have learned. Please help us all now that you know that there is most likely no basis for a chemical imbalance. The pharmaceutical companies and some doctors keep trying to tell us there is something physically wrong when the problem is not a defect in our bodies. The companies are pushing drugs when that is not the solution to the problem. It is our spirits warning us that something is wrong. There are ways to listen to our spirits and help our society be healthier emotionally and mentally. It may not be easy at times to learn to listen to our sprits but the rewards are great. I found that it was so much easier to learn to listen than to remain in the emotional pain and suffering.

Remember something when times get tough: learning to listen to my spirit and to God was NEVER as difficult at any time than being in the hell of emotional pain or depression.

Peter R. Breggin, MD: How to Help Deeply Disturbed Persons—Fourth in the" Simple Truth"

There are very, very good solutions to helping disturbed people, but they run counter to the drug companies, to the government programs, to organized medicine. We need the public to be demanding these things. [like Soteria House].

….

and they have a saying that schizophrenia exists between the members of the family and they [open diaglogues and caring, family-oriented programs] are so effective that they rarely use psychiatric drugs …. They have been so effective that the rate of schizophrenia is down to almost zero.

….

We are not ignorant about how to help people. …. But we need you, the public, to say “this is what we want, we want caring havens to go to when we are in desperation.”

To commence Children's Mental Health Week (February 8-14) in the U.K., the Duchess of Cambridge is calling for stronger support for children's emotional well-being. In partnership with Place2BE, an organization that provides emotional support to children in school, Kate Middleton, a vocal supporter of adolescent issues, sat down to discuss the importance of providing young students with the assistance to "cope with life's challenges."

"Every child deserves to grow up knowing their potential and feeling confident that they won't fall at the first hurdle," The Duchess began. "With early support, they can learn to manage their emotions and feelings and know when to seek help," she later added.
