Divine Mercy

           Divine Mercy

The attached information is meant to introduce the reader to the concept of Divine Mercy as brought to the Catholic Church and to people through Sister Faustina. On this page are references and referrals to other sites which can explain the concept much better than I, along with some original photos taken by me in 2015. Links to music that I feel go along with my experiences are also included.

Here it is:

Cathedrals around world throw open Holy Doors on orders of Pope

Cathedrals around the world flung open their Holy Doors today on the orders of Pope Francis, as the pontiff celebrated the first Sunday of his Jubilee of Mercy by opening one himself at Rome’s Basilica of St John Lateran.

“We have opened the Holy Door, here and in all the cathedrals of the world,” Pope Francis said, after pushing open the massive bronze doors and pausing to pray silently on their threshold. He called the symbolic gesture "an invitation to joy".

"It begins a time of great forgiveness. It is the Jubilee of Mercy," he said. "God does not love rigidity. He is tender.”

The Divine Mercy painting by Adolf Hyła (1943). The Polish inscription at the bottom reads: "Jesus, I trust in You"

The Divine Mercy image is a depiction of Jesus based on the devotion initiated by Saint Faustina Kowalska.

Jesus is shown in most versions as raising his right hand in blessing, and pointing with his left hand on his chest from which flow forth two rays: one red and one white (translucent). The depictions often contains the message "Jesus, I trust in You!" (Polish: Jezu ufam Tobie). The rays streaming out have symbolic meaning: red for the blood of Jesus (which is the Life of Souls), and pale for the water (which justify souls) (from Diary - 299). The whole image is symbolic of charity, forgiveness and love of God, referred to as the "Fountain of Mercy". According to the diary of St Faustina, the image is based on her 1931 vision of Jesus.[1]

Here is a close-up of the painting:

This message and devotion to Jesus as
The Divine Mercy is based on the writings of Saint Faustina Kowalska, an uneducated Polish nun.

The Divine Mercy Message and Devotion

The message of The Divine Mercy is simple. It is that God loves us – all of us. And, he wants us to recognize that His mercy is greater than our sins, so that we will call upon Him with trust, receive His mercy, and let it flow through us to others. Thus, all will come to share His joy.

The Divine Mercy message is one we can call to mind simply by remembering ABC:

A - Ask for His Mercy. God wants us to approach Him in prayer constantly, repenting of our sins and asking Him to pour His mercy out upon us and upon the whole world.

B - Be merciful. God wants us to receive His mercy and let it flow through us to others. He wants us to extend love and forgiveness to others just as He does to us.

C - Completely trust in Jesus. God wants us to know that the graces of His mercy are dependent upon our trust. The more we trust in Jesus, the more we will receive.

*************            The Chaplet of Divine Mercy in Song (complete)

Trish Short - composer of
The Divine Mercy Chaplet in Song and who found forgiveness and healing with God after two abortions.            The Chaplet of Divine Mercy in Song (complete)

Trish grew up in a large family that struggled through the brokenness of divorce, alcoholism, depression and addiction.  Tragically, it was the final aftermath of two abortions as a very young woman that lead Trish to The Chaplet of Divine Mercy. “Many years later, when I first came to acknowledge the death of my children I could not do enough to try to earn forgiveness. Completely burned out, I felt I was dying deep inside. One day I was asked to testify as a post-abortive woman before the Senate Healthcare Committee in support of ‘The Woman’s Right to Know Act.’  Afterward, I fell apart, and a concerned friend introduced me to the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.  Kneeling in my bedroom I prayed it for the first time and remembered my two children lost to abortion. Reciting the words of the Chaplet truly opened my heart. Once blinded by shame and condemnation, I hadn’t realized that God’s mercy was greater than my sin. Now when I extend His mercy by imploring His powerful words, it reminds me that as a Christian I am called to intercede and care for others. At the same time, I know it is also a personal prayer.  As Jesus continues to bring restoration and healing to my life, the Chaplet will forever be for me His song of mercy.”

For us Catholics especially and anyone who might find healing and solace here.

Jesus said later to Sister Faustina:

"Say unceasingly this chaplet that I have taught you. Anyone who
says it will receive great Mercy at the hour of death. Priests
will recommend it to sinners as the last hope. Even the most
hardened sinner, if he recites this Chaplet even once, will
receive grace from My Infinite Mercy. I want the whole world to
know My Infinite Mercy. I want to give unimaginable graces to
those who trust in My Mercy...."

"....When they say this Chaplet in the presence of the dying, I
will stand between My Father and the dying person not as the just
judge but as the Merciful Savior".

... and the wound in his side was opened and light and water poured forth into the world ...

You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us.

    Christ Said 'Paint an Image'

During prayer I heard these words within me: The two rays denote Blood and Water. The pale ray stands for the water that makes souls righteous. The red ray stands for the Blood which is the life of souls ...

These two rays issued forth from the very depths of My tender mercy when my agonized Heart was opened by a lance on the Cross. (Diary, 299).

Now therefore, thus saith the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways.

Still - Hillsong United with Lyrics

God is a just God.  Many Atheists, Skeptics and others question God’s wrath which is highly illustrated through words in the Old Testament.

“How can this be a good God?”  they cry out in disgust.  Well God is good.  God has to be just in order for good to have a chance in a world full of evil and sin.

If crimes go unpunished, then we will live in an anything goes society which will eventually collapse.  This is why we have laws and judicial systems in order to keep the common good afloat.  God is no different.  The God of the universe is just and does punish when necessary.  Moreover, this punishment is no different than a parent disciplining his/her child.  We belong to God and He can do whatever He wants with us.

However, the Divine Mercy devotion sheds more light into God’s justice.  God above all is merciful.  There is no sin He cannot forgive.  There is no evil that is greater than God’s mercy.

The below photo was taken in a chapel honoring Mary the Mother of Jesus: I thought I would take a photo because to me the guy fixing the light that focused on the Monstrance holding the body of Christ and in Mary's chapel, was fittingly echoing a new light being shown on the Church, repairs being made or on Mary and Jesus or on a new direction the Church was taking in reaching out to others. This is what came out in one out of three photos taken.

No One Can Say There is No Hell
Let the sinner know that he will be tortured throughout all eternity, in those senses which he made use of to sin. I am writing this at the command of God, so that no soul may find an excuse by saying there is no hell, or that nobody has ever been there, and so no one can say what it is terribly souls suffer there! Consequently, I pray even more fervently for the conversion of sinners. I incessantly plead God's mercy upon them. O My Jesus, I would rather be in agony until the end of the world, amidst the greatest sufferings, than offend you by the least sin." (Diary 741)

It really is a life and death choice ...
in my own life it was time to choose

In her diary Faustina wrote that Jesus specified 3.00 pm each day as the hour at which mercy was best received, and asked her to pray the Chaplet of Mercy and venerate the Divine Mercy image at that hour.[21][22] On October 10, 1937, in her diary (Notebook V, item 1320) Faustina attributed the following statement to Jesus:

As often as you hear the clock strike the third hour immerse yourself completely in My mercy, adoring and glorifying it, invoke its omnipotence for the whole world, and particularly for poor sinners, for at that moment mercy was opened wide for every soul.[23]

Three time of 3.00 pm corresponds to the hour at which Jesus died on the cross.[22] This hour is called the "hour of Divine Mercy" or the "hour of great mercy".[

Perhaps a rethinking of the possibility of Hell would be in order:

We could try: PRAY, REPENT, and turn to GOD

This is entirely a possibility given the darker energies that are being brought into this world. I have felt hell on many occasions and it is not a pleasant place to be at all, in any way, shape or form. That's putting it mildly. The above photo would be but a glimpse of the evil, fear and terror that is present in some parts of the astral plane or other dimensions as God and Jesus have shown to me.

1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to Jonah a second time.

2 'Up!' he said, 'Go to Nineveh, the great city, and preach to it as I shall tell you.'

3 Jonah set out and went to Nineveh in obedience to the word of Yahweh. Now Nineveh was a city great beyond compare; to cross it took three days.

4 Jonah began by going a day's journey into the city and then proclaimed, 'Only forty days more and Nineveh will be overthrown.'

5 And the people of Nineveh believed in God; they proclaimed a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least.

6 When the news reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his robe, put on sackcloth and sat down in ashes.

7 He then had it proclaimed throughout Nineveh, by decree of the king and his nobles, as follows: 'No person or animal, herd or flock, may eat anything; they may not graze, they may not drink any water.

8 All must put on sackcloth and call on God with all their might; and let everyone renounce his evil ways and violent behaviour.

9 Who knows? Perhaps God will change his mind and relent and renounce his burning wrath, so that we shall not perish.'

10 God saw their efforts to renounce their evil ways. And God relented about the disaster which he had threatened to bring on them, and did not bring it.

Think of the 10 Commandments as God’s boundaries for His children.

This is what He asks of us.

    and this:

    Matthew 22:36-40King James Version (KJV)

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

the Door of Mercy at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Pope Francis has proclaimed an Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy for the Church. The Holy Year will open on December 8, 2015, on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. Pope Francis has proclaimed this to be “a time when the witness of believers might grow strong and more effective.” From the sin of Adam and Eve, God’s desire has always been to be reunited with us against the pains of evil in which we live. Having been forced to face the severity of sin, God will always respond with the fullness of mercy… and a love without any limitations for whoever truly seeks forgiveness. Pope Francis “…will have the joy of opening the Holy Door on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. On that day, the Holy Door will become a Door of Mercy through which anyone who enters will experience the love of God who consoles, pardons, and instills hope.” Misericordiae Vultus: Bull of Indiction of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy

    Hi Everyone

    I have a prayer request.

Tonight 1/25/16 (Monday), as I noted in today’s paper, a new series is coming out on TV. While not to judge anyone’s viewing preferences, this show is called “Lucifer” and is about a fallen angel turned cop, doing his own thing.

No matter what you believe spiritually, this is an issue for all of us in this world. If anyone feels that perhaps some extra prayers for this country and its youth especially, are in order, please say a few prayers if you can.

Thanks for your efforts in this regard. May God be with us all in these trying times.

Will it be your best Lent ever? That is entirely up to you. Lent is not just about giving things up. Lent is about doing something.

Doing something bold. Becoming a better husband, father, wife, mother, friend, etc. We hope this program will help you do that.

                                                                            Eternal Father ...

There is a reason that people are wearing their rosaries around their neck.  Hold close to God.

As Christians, beginning in ignorance and sin, we confess both our spiritual dependence and our failings. We realize that, unless God chooses to reveal Himself—which He does in His Word and in Christ—we can know nothing. No one can know God by means of human reasoning or by any other human instrument (Job 11:7; I Corinthians 2:14). Spiritual knowledge is not revealed even through religious tradition, but it comes through the intervention of God in history, in His written Word, and the opening of the mind by the Holy Spirit—and only to those whom God calls.

Jesus says to the once-blind man, “Do you believe in the Son of God?” Having been blind, do we now entrust our spiritual well-being to Jesus Christ?

In Matthew’s gospel (chapter 25) readers are taken to the time when God judges all the nations of the world. It is a rather terrifying scene because many of the people present are convinced that they are the legitimate inheritors of the Kingdom of God.

But God is not fooled. God simply asks: Did you feed the hungry, offer drink to the thirsty, welcome the stranger, clothe the naked, care for the sick and visit those in prison?

How will America fare in this time of judgment, …

Pope replies to letter from juvenile gang member jailed in Los Angeles

The youth was stunned. "I couldn't believe it. I didn't think the Pope would write to someone who's behind bars," said Vazquez, now 18.

The Pope's letter continued. He spoke of "a Holy Door to Mercy" being opened at the juvenile jail, in a ceremony led by the Los Angeles archbishop.

"I pray that as you and your fellow residents celebrate the opening of the Holy Door, you may receive these gifts and be filled with peace and hope," the Pope wrote. "Know that the Holy Father is thinking of you and praying for you. And please remember to pray for me, because I greatly need your prayers."

“I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners (...). I pour out an ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that accepts the sacrament of reconciliation and receives the Eucharist shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and avoid punishment; on that day all the divine floodgates through which grace flow will be opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet” (Diary, 699).

“Even if a soul is like a decaying corpse, so that, from a human standpoint, there would be no hope of restoration and everything would already be lost - it is not so with God. The miracle of Divine Mercy restores that soul in full” (Diary, 1448).

I don't know what Sister Faustina saw, but ... I have seen in my own mind's eye and in my own body this decay and rotting flesh. This is when I was unhealthy spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally. I could literally see the upper part of my body, which was struggling because of the fear blocking the life force by half from entering into the heart and upper body, plus the physical decay from smoking and other unhealthy habits. I almost died from being separated from God, not going to Jesus/Yeshua and from trying to do the energy and other work by myself. God and Jesus have slowly restored my health in all ways with their love and support. Without them I would not be here and enjoying my life as much as I do now.

In this holy year of mercy it seems that the following words mean very much at the moment given the opening of holy doors all over the world. The year of mercy ends on November 20, 2016.

He who refuses to pass through the door of My mercy
must pass through the door of My justice.
    (Diary 1146).

In addition to these words of Our Lord Sr. Faustina gives us the Words of the Mother of Mercy, the Blessed Virgin,

You have to speak to the world about His great mercy and prepare the world for the Second Coming of Him who will come, not as a merciful Savior, but as a just Judge. Oh how terrible is that day! Determined is the day of justice, the day of divine wrath. The angels tremble before it. Speak to souls about this great mercy while it is still the time for granting mercy. (Diary 635).
