Depression Resources

I discovered while on my journey that my depression was

my spirit trying to tell me how much it felt
suppressed and compromised.

Because I took the time to discover and look
at the causes of my depression

I have recovered my spirit and my life.

Consider the fact that depression
is getting worse and more widespread.

If my depression was a  wake-up call for me personally,

might it be a wake-up call for many people in the world?

Please remember that I am not a doctor or any kind of medical or mental health professional. The information posted on this site is based upon my own personal experience and research. I do not give mental health or medical advice nor should any information on this site be taken as any kind of medical advice. This is only an attempt to make you aware of new developments, different options and other choices so that you can decide for yourself how you want to handle your recovery.

I recommend that you have emotional support and guidance available at all times if possible. I also suggest consulting a qualified professional that can help guide you through the emotional releases, setting up a program and other issues.

There are so many qualified professionals out there who have done some great books, web sites and videos for anyone seeking help. I prefer to send you to their sites because I feel that you will be better served by these professionals rather than me trying to explain any of it when they do such a great job. I give you my experiences in my section of articles and in the book but the following articles, books, web sites and videos are done by others, many who are experts in their own right and areas of expertise. I would give them credit for their hard work and send you to information from qualified professionals so that you can better make fully informed decisions about your health.

Even if a person didn't know where to start or felt overwhelmed, I think that just scrolling through the information in the book and the guide might give a person an idea where to begin. Just having a place to start and knowing that there are some choices out there might help people to have hope that they can get their lives and their joy back. Take a peek and go with whatever catches your interest or your eye.

Contents are web sites, books and videos.

This is an attempt to help you be aware more choices and new opportunities in the treatment of depression and other forms of mental illness that you may not be aware of at this time.

I would like to see changes. I feel that there is too much emphasis on giving people medication and not enough of trying to help them in ways that will really help us get better. That is one reason why I have done all of this work. I did it to save my own life but the rest came about as a result of those efforts. It is so that others will know there are others options besides medication and counseling. Maybe you will not have to suffer for as many years as I did without a solution or knowing of any way that could make things better. Learning some new skills made a powerful difference in my life but the cost of learning these skills in an outpatient setting is beyond the means of most people in time, money and opportunity. We could use some more practical and affordable options so that people can get the help that they need. Something is wrong with our system and we are more than just physical bodies. Our spirits and our souls are in pain.

Many times, I found that helping others, especially those in more need than myself, helped to ease depression. While this does not get rid of the causes of depression or get rid of the trauma or pain, focusing on others for a time helped me to forget about my own pain for a while. Consider volunteer work such as at a hospital, Habitat for Humanity, gathering clothing, distributing food, babysitting, a “volunteer vacation” or helping with any need.

The death of a parent, partner, or especially of a child, can cause almost unbearable emotional pain, and knowing how to cope with that grief is important for ensuring that the emotional distress doesn’t lead to depression or cause deeper psychological damage.             Subtle grades of depression kill more people than all the other diseases of mankind combined. There is no antidepressant
that will cure a depression which is spiritually based, because the malaise does not originate from brain dysfunction but
from an accurate response to the desecration of life. The body is the reflection of the spirit in its physical expression, and
its problems are the dramatization of the struggles of the spirit which gives it life. [3]

Depression was not allowing the release of energy whether it be anger, sorrow, joy, enthusiasm, love, creativity, fear, panic, sadness or any other feeling.
Depression is not feeling free to be real in this world. If the energy release is stifled in any way the body will keep attempting to release the energy in some way even though we attempt to suppress it. For me, it was tremors, shaking legs and panic attacks The depression and the panic attacks got worse every time I took medication or abused substances to stifle the release of energy. My illnesses became worse because I ignored what my mind and body were trying to tell me because I didn’t know what was happening and I didn’t know how to deal with my feelings in a healthy way. The shaking of my legs and the panic attacks were my body’s attempt to release the fear caused by the events that created the post-traumatic stress disorder.

Energy releases come in many different forms and types.
The releases can appear as laughing, crying, wailing, choking, coughing, vomiting, seizures, muscular shaking, panic attacks, tremors and more. Pay attention to any memories or feelings that come up because they are trying to tell you something. Many times after a big release of energy or emotions, I feel very, very cold. If this happens to you, keep yourself warm, rest and let your body recover.

Different foods have different energetic properties.

Will you give your body live energies or dead foods?

For what reasons would you choose a food with little to no energy or nutritional value?

I chose different foods to either feel better, cleanse or to numb me from what I didn’t want to feel.

“Clean burning” foods like fruits and vegetables made me feel better.

Foods like sugar, pasta, bread and processed foods made me numb to what was bothering me.

What difference do you think these energies make in your body?

How about experimenting with eating different foods to see how they affect you?

What kind of food do you crave when you are emotionally uncomfortable?

Many people like one-on-one counseling. I did for years; however, I got to the point where I was ready to learn new skills and start letting people around me so that I could learn to communicate more effectively and in a healthier manner. I was nervous at first but I found group therapy to be a comforting and supportive environment with others who were having the same difficulties that I was having.
Feeling like I was not alone helped quite a bit.

There are very, very good solutions to helping disturbed people, but they run counter to the drug companies, to the government programs, to organized medicine. We need the public to be demanding these things. [like Soteria House].

and they have a saying that schizophrenia exists between the members of the family and they [open diaglogues and caring, family-oriented programs] are so effective that they rarely use psychiatric drugs …. They have been so effective that the rate of schizophrenia is down to almost zero.

We are not ignorant about how to help people. …. But we need you, the public, to say “this is what we want, we want caring havens to go to when we are in desperation.”
