The book and guide have been set up to help people find their own unique way of recovering from "mental [spiritual] illness" as well as learning to handle life's emotional issues in a healthier way. This includes possible recovery from depression, anxiety, panic and post traumatic stress injury as well as drug and alcohol addiction. The book and guide address recovery from a mind, body and spirit approach. This approach can be as simple as letting God love you and finding a safe place. It can also have more substance and involve eating healthier, learning new life skills and behavior, learning coping skills, different methods of treatment and anything else that you would like to add for yourself as an individual.

The goal of this approach is to learn new skills for the whole of life to promote recovery and healthier ways of living, as well as to be able to live a life free of medication if possible. This approach does not promise or guarantee recovery but gives one guidelines and resources to help overcome emotional pain and suffering. It is all a matter of how much you want to learn to listen to your own spirit and how much time you want to invest in yourself and in a connection with God, who gives your spirit life. I personally was able to stop taking the anti-depressants and the tranquilizers and I do not feel that I ever had any kind of chemical imbalance that was responsible for my illnesses. I believe they were caused by my environment, a lack of communication, other necessary life skills and trauma.

I feel that this approach also offers new choices for people in their lives that they may not be aware are available. I did not know these choices were out there nor was I ever told about any choices in fifteen years of psychiatric therapy, except for biofeedback, which I did not try. Finally, after years and years of emotional suffering, pain and loss and me getting worse and worse, I was very desperate for solutions.  I started looking everywhere that I could for help. There was not much available as far as resources so I had to search out all of the information on my own. I gave myself two years to get better. I figured that at the end of that two years I would either be better or I would be dead. It has taken me years to
research these methods and put them into a program that worked for me. I offer my results and resources to you so that you also can be aware that there are other methods of treatment besides medication and counseling to help you recover. SInce everyone has different needs, the book and the guide are also set up in a way so that you can design your own personal program based upon your preferences and needs.

The resources and the book are meant to help prevent suicide, reduce emotional suffering and give people new hope that their emotional pain can be relieved and hopefully removed. At least greatly reduced anyways. When I started I had hoped for a reduction of the pain and an easier emotional life. I found both of those things but I also found recovery and a new freedom through it all.  I found something grand called living on the other side of the pain. It was work though and not an easy go. I really had to teach myself things that I did not learn as a child. I had to learn to let someone love me because I didn't know how. I chose God but you can do it any way you wish.

Getting better will require that you help yourself and learn to listen to your own spirit. These are not things that others can do for you. There are many support resources out there for people seeking recovery and a lot of wonderful, professional help in the mental health field; however, much of this effort will be up to you so you will have to decide how much effort you want to put into your own recovery. Nobody will be making you do anything except for yourself. Try to be realistic in your approach by recognizing that things will not get better overnight and recovery could take some time and effort. I say give it at least six months to one year minimum to see some results and changes. You may see results earlier but for me in the severely depressed state that I was in, it took at least six months to see some real benefit from my efforts.

I will tell you though that although the road to recovery was very difficult at times, it was NEVER, and I mean NEVER, as difficult as being in emotional suffering and that hell.

I did it. So can you. Don't give up.
